In the fall of 2010, I went back to college at the local community college. I was a sexagenarian. I took a poetry-writing class. I took a digital photography class and was able to buy a digital camera to use in the class. I was a social being. However, due to having major blockages to being accepted in one campus club, I resigned. Instead, I joined a club which was based in environmental issues. It was the Sustainable Action Club of Fresno City College in Fresno, CA. I poured my heart into the activities of the club. We collected food scraps from the cafeteria and mixed them into a compost pile in the greenhouse area of the campus. I took horticulture classes, sharing a garden space with the president of the club, a woman. I served as secretary.
When I found out about California’s Prop. 37, which sought to get genetically engineered food products labeled, I served as a dedicated volunteer. I found out about the documentary film: “Bitter Seeds”, regarding the atrocious results of the effects of the glyphosate-laden products which were thrust upon farmers in India. I contacted the distributors of the film and requested permission to screen the film on campus. I received permission, along with a copy of the film, with rights to screen the film with great leeway. During the screening of the film on campus, the woman who was the organizer for Prop. 37 in the Central California area spoke to the audience. I attended the Prop. 37 party in San Francisco on election night, November 6, 2012.
I also served as a volunteer for the Earth Day Fresno 2013 event, in April, 2013, representing the Sustainable Action Club. I served in multiple capacities there, for that Earth Day event. The event organizer said that I was the most dedicated volunteer for the event. It was a big success.
When the “March Against Monsanto” events were happening in Fresno, I was there. I took photos. I also served as a volunteer photographer for a nonprofit monthly publication called the Community Alliance newspaper of Fresno.
Jeffrey Smith came to Fresno after his book: “Genetic Roulette” was published. He spoke at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Fresno. I saw him, met him, heard him speak and purchased a copy of his book from him. I was so elated that he would come to Fresno and that I would get to meet him and give him my support!
I am grateful beyond words for what Jeffrey has done for life! Thank you.

The rabbit hole of Roundup ready crops is where I first encountered your work in GMO activism and education. Memory: We met many years ago when you were on your original book tour for Seeds of Deception.
Back in 2003 or so, Neuromuscular therapist (and longtime friend) Paul St John asks me, “Hey I know you are interested in health and organic food, would you like to join a group of us who are going to lunch today with the author of a new book?”
A small group of us gathered at a holistic restaurant in downtown St Pete Florida, and listened to this passionate intelligent young man talk about food and health.
After that I saw you speak many more times every time you came to Florida – Orlando, Tampa etc, and met other friends of yours and of course always said hello.
I’ve shared that wisdom ever since that first meeting and have told hundreds of people about you and what you share. It changed my life. Your work with pets too, also shared that.
Not many people change the world in dramatic ways. You are one of those.
